Inspiration | Spring Solstice Elopement Inspiration
I’m clearly way behind on blogging, but I cheat and set my publishing date as the shoot date. It’s actually June 2026. Hello from the future! Anyway, enough about my inability to keep up with administrative work. I shot this editorial in April 2025, right as I was beginning to include film photography in my wedding packages. Since then film has become a large part of my method of creating, so much so I find myself mildly disinterested in my digital work. This shoot was really a jumping off point to test out cameras, as well as different film types and stocks.
After visiting this tulip festival in Kearney, MO, I knew I had to plan a shoot before the blooms were past their prime. I wanted to create something ethereal and almost spooky, with a nod to the unsettling atmosphere of Midsommer. With the help of some of my closest friends, I threw this shoot together in a matter of days. Lucky for me, everyone involved was an artist and required very little instruction. My models, Rachel and Eric, selected their own outfits and Rachel made the flower crowns with blooms from her garden. My assistant for the day, Geena, styled Rachels hair, provided props, and produced some incredible behind the scenes content for me. Of course, I can't forgot Lauren, who created a beautiful stationary suite, which I photographed after the fact. Overall, it was a super fun, stress free shoot that allowed me to really play with a new medium. vendors
